Photographs
If any junior members have photographs of themselves with a good fish, we would be more than happy to include them on the gallery pages. However, under the child protection legislation we would need to have written consent from a parent or guardian. Could we ask therefore, if any Junior members wish to have photographs published on this site to forward written authorisation to D.C.A.C. PO Box 508, Durham, DH1 9BP
As from February 2006, Junior members wishing to night fish on Brasside, or any other club waters, must be accompanied by a responsible adult member.(Senior, Retired or Disabled but NOT the recently introduced Intermediate category of member)
Asking an adult member already at the water to ‘child mind’ through the night is not acceptable. Juniors are not some one else's responsibility.
Unfortunately Juniors unaccompanied by a responsible adult would not be covered under
the Clubs public liability policy, a risk the committee is not prepared to take.
Please
read the notes below concerning Junior members which have led to this reluctantly
made decision.
In the light of very tragic events involving young anglers on the river Wear, the committee of D.C.A.C. have considered the position and take the view that in order for junior members to continue to enjoy the available night fishing club waters, parents /guardians of all Junior members should be advised of the following.
A rod licence is a statutory requirement (in other words it is required by law) and entitles the licensee to use a rod and line to fish. Rod licences are issued by the Environment
Any angler aged 12 or above must have a Rod Licence to fish . Anyone caught fishing without a Rod Licence is cheating other anglers and could be fined up to £2,500. A Rod Licence entitles the holder to fish with up to two rods and line at the same time. Full and Junior Concession (Aged 12 to 16) Rod Licences can be purchased on-line at:-
http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/rodlicence by telephoning 0870-1662-662 (for Debit & Credit Card Holders) or at any Post Office which can also issue Senior Citizen (Age 65 or over) and Disabled Concessionary Licences on the provision of Proof of Eligibility.
Police Officers, PCSOs, Community Wardens & EA Bailiffs all have the legal right to ask anglers fishing D.C.A.C. waters to produce any Rod Licence/s held.
A member of the public holding a current Environment Agency Rod Licence no longer has the right to ask anyone fishing with rod & line in any water to produce their Rod Licence/s however all members 12 years of age and over MUST be in possession of a current Rod Licence at all times when fishing Club waters..
